Part two of our ten part series titled Beauty Inside Out features a vacation for your skin, or ‘’skin-cation.’’
Just about everyone loves to or dreams about going on vacation wherever that may be, to some exotic island or places that stir up cherished memories. Vacations help us relax, get-away from the daily grind, and just have fun with family and friends. It is important for our body and mind to refuel and replenish during a vacation, but our skin deserves a break and a little pampering too.
Try and give your skin a break or what we call at Belle Aglaia “skin-cation” that’s right a skin vacation! Here’s an easy “facial skin-cation” planning guide.
Once in a while when lounging at home, remove from your face all make-up which clogs your pores, stresses your skin and ages you. Then, wash your face and let it relax and breathe free of all beauty products.
Explore the fountain of youth by adding an antioxidant boost to your “skin-cation”. Use green tea instead of soap, to wash your face. Green tea is a great drink, but also great for washing your face. Brew some tea, let it cool down, and use it with a wash cloth to clean your face. You may even wash your face with green tea daily and brew enough tea ahead of time and keep it in your fridge to save time. Green tea is an effective, natural, and healthy application to help you look younger.
Refresh by adding a zing to your “skin-cation”. Splash your face after washing with cold water for a refreshing and cool feeling especially if the weather is warmer. Cold water is also a good astringent helping tighten pores.
Last but not least pamper your skin. After washing your face, apply a natural moisturizer like olive oil, almond oil, sunflower or safflower oils and etc. Extra virgin olive oil is a great moisturizer for dry skin. Shea butter is also great but may require a trip to specialty store. However, any of the oils above would be an ideal natural moisturizer. They all have calming and emollient properties to help smooth and soften your skin. To use as a moisturizer, put two drops of oil in your hand, add three drops of water or tea, rub it in your palm then apply to your face by massaging it gently for a minute or two.
Note that the gentle, self- facial massage is great for skin firming, stimulating blood flow, rejuvenating skin appearance, and it feels good too!
After doing this a couple of times you will be hooked and start noticing your skin looking much healthier, younger and radiant, naturally. Enjoy your skin-cation! Bon voyage!
